Nerve Smart Systems B-HPC system combines the lightning-fast charge of state-of-the-art DC high power chargers for EVs, with the flexibility of normal low power chargers. The B-HPC / TOPChargE system combines a battery buffer that stores up the energy provided from a typical grid connection, with a high power charger that releases that energy to facilitate ultra-fast EV charging. The battery system, which is equipped with Nerve Switch® technology and variable topology configuration, allows for the system to skip most of the conventional power electronics of a DC HPC. In this way, power conversion losses are minimized and stress towards the grid is greatly reduced while achieving the desired high power charging speeds.

Capacity and Power

The minimum configuration of TOPChargE system consists of battery strings that make up for the battery capacity and with a choice of 30, 60 or 90 kW of AC power input/output. On top of this configuration, there is the high power charger that can deliver up to 175kW of DC charging power (500V @ 400A) pr. 200kWh of battery capacity. Combining two of these systems unlocks the possibility of charging at 350kW DC (1000V @ 400A). The battery of the TOPChargE system is also equipped with cloud services for monitoring and operating it remotely. The enclosure of the system can be either indoor or outdoor double-rack cabinets or containers of various sizes (10, 20 or 40’ feet). The actual charger shown on the pictures acts only as a cable holder and needs a minimum of electronics – thereby our customers are welcome to make their own design.

How It works


DC Voltage Control

Having the ability to engage or bypass individual cells in the battery system, opens the opportunity of having variable DC voltage output without the use of any DC/DC power electronics. Nerve Smart Systems’ B-HPC has no DC/DC power conversion electronics, neither it requires a large grid connection to facilitate EV charging. The procedure is carried out completely from battery to battery (B-HPC to EV battery). This means that when the B-HPC’s battery is charged, even from a household plug, it can deliver ultra-fast DC high power charging.
